Boy With Autism, Father Reunited By Paramus Police After Jarring 2 Hours

Police officers in Paramus reunited a 13-year-old boy with autism and his father after the boy wandered off from the family home Sunday morning, Oct. 27, authorities said.

The 5'9" Black male was wearing a black tracksuit and red and white sneakers when he wandered off near Split Rock Road around 8:15 a.m., Paramus Police Chief Robert Guidetti said. 

The department deployed its drone unit and updated its social media accounts to notify the public.

At 10:20 a.m., Officer Jason Hall spotted the boy safely walking along Farview Avenue, about half a mile away from home, the chief said. 

The boy was safely reunited with his father, Guidett said.
